Real Weddings | Mia + Vijay | December 15, 2018
After meeting Mia and Vijay and hearing their love story, we couldn’t wait to be a part of their wedding day and last December we got to do just that. Mia and Vijay wanted “an authentic celebration that celebrated feelings and love and home for friends and family.” Swoon.
On their anniversary, Mia and Vijay were so sweet to share some of their most memorable details from their favorite day, and we cannot wait to share them with you!
From Mia:
The first time we met we were with a group of friends at the Aurora Arts Festival in downtown Dallas. I don’t really remember talking to Vijay, but he said we exchanged a few words that night. Fast forward six months or so, we re-met with the same group of friends to see Kid Cudi at Bomb Factory. The following day Vijay got my number from my best friend and sent a message to see if I might want to go to dinner. I remember receiving the text and thinking maybe he wants to be friends. Little did I know, our friends knew that he had been interested in getting to know me from the first time we met. Our first date was at Souk in Trinity Groves and really from there the rest is history.
Getting ready that day was so fun—we were both with our closest friends from childhood. There was a tiny moment when I thought I would be late because of hair and make-up but everything went so smoothly. Our Event Manager was the literal best to work with and she kept us both so calm. She’s a godsend for sure.
The funny part of this is that Cliff House found us in a way. In June of 2018, V was in the process of moving and we were furniture hunting with my mom. That particular day I was in the car with my mom and we were trailing Vijay, and I saw Cliff House out the corner of my eye. The better part of the story was that we hadn’t even officially gotten engaged at this point. Our plan after discussing with our families was that December 2018 would be the goal. I knew we wanted to get married in a church as our faith is very important to us. So, the following week on a whim, I asked my mom if we could go for a look. And literally when we walked in, we were in love. I’ll never forget my mom saying how much Cliff House reminded her of [me and Vijay]. We asked about days in December and the weekend we were thinking about was open. At least we had the hardest part done!
The greatest joy next to marrying each other was seeing all of our family and friends in one place. We both believe to our core that people are the secret sauce to making our time count on this earth, and literally having all of our close friends and family made the day that much sweeter.
I really loved the couple of moments we had together after the ceremony. As the guests transitioned to the cocktail hour, we sat in the front room and talked. In our final moments just before leaving, we did a solo dance and it’s something we will always remember.
We just can’t get enough of this day. There is so much we adore about this couple, but the true tear-jerker is the fact that they also used the day to celebrate those that had been such a big part of their story.
Mia said that if she had to describe their day in 3 ways, it would be: elegant, authentic, and sprinkles of love. We could say the same when describing this special couple! We love getting to celebrate couples like Mia + Vijay. Cheers to a lifetime of joy and love. We wish you nothing but the best!
