Vendor Spotlight | Kate McLeod Studio

With a heart for creativity and art, it is no surprise that floral design became a passion in Kate McLeod’s life.

An Oak Cliff local, Kate has worked at the Cliff House numerous times, each time creating something exciting and breathtaking, always serving to make other’s dreams come to fruition. We were thrilled to visit with Kate about her business, Kate McLeod Studio, her style, inspiration, and how she thrives in the wedding and event industry.

From Kate: I have always had a passion for art and design. I studied art in college and before going into florals, I was a jewelry designer. I feel that in the creative world, one thing can lead to another. Floral design became another form of art that I fell in love with. It became another passion of mine. Flowers became my medium. Just like in painting or jewelry, I am able to create movement, color, and texture.

KM: Art, Fashion, Music, Color, Nature- so many things [inspire me]!

KM: I always love getting to work inside the Cliff House. Through photoshoots or wedding design, I love getting to work on the ceremony backdrop or hang greenery from the rafters. It is such a beautiful, blank space.

KM: I love seeing my clients reaction when I deliver their wedding florals to them! It brings me so much joy. I also just love getting to design and work with such a beautiful medium!

KM: [Outside of the studio] I love spending time with my two babies and husband. We love going down to the Hill Country any chance we get. I also love to run, cook, and paint!

KM: There are so many amazing florists. I am inspired by so many. I think the combination of types of flowers I use makes my style unique. I love to use a variety of different flowers that maybe aren’t used together traditionally, with a wide variety of color, shape and size. I also use a variety of greenery.

Here at the Cliff House, we adore being the background for Kate’s work. We are so thankful that we had the opportunity to hear the thoughtfulness and passion behind the studio. If you haven’t yet, do yourself a favor and check out her designs. Thank you, Kate, for taking the time to share with us!
