Real Wedding | Caroline + Aaron | October 31, 2020
We love fall weddings at the Cliff House. There’s something about the crisp, cool air and moody tones that brings a certain magic to wedding days, especially Caroline and Aaron’s. On Halloween, this sweet duo said “I do” in a romantic ceremony, followed by a celebration with their loved ones and friends.
Caroline and Aaron shared with us how their love story began, along with some of their favorite memories from their wedding day. Enjoy!
From Caroline:
Aaron and I met on Coffee Meets Bagel (a dating app) in September 2018! I am a flight attendant and Aaron is an avid traveler and lived abroad for a while so we immediately clicked over our shared love of travel. We had our first date on a Monday night, and it went so well that we went out again that Friday! We clicked right away, and we knew very early on that this relationship was something special. Eleven months later, we got engaged!
Both of us love the fall! It’s our favorite season, and it’s also when we first met and fell in love with each other. When we got engaged, we knew we wanted to get married in October. We ended up getting married on Halloween! Although we love Halloween, we knew we didn’t want a halloween themed wedding so we decided to go with a romantic and intimate Fall feel because it made us feel nostalgic for that time that we were first falling in love. We loved how well that feel went with the beautiful interior at the Cliff House!!
We were originally all over the place when we were looking at venues. Neither of us grew up in the DFW area and hadn’t been to a lot of weddings nearby so we were overwhelmed on where to start. We were shopping at Lush at NorthPark Mall one day and were making conversation with the sales assistant when she mentioned that she had been to a wedding at the Cliff House and how much she loved it. The minute we left the store, I was looking it up online, and I fell in love when I saw the pictures. When we saw it in person, we knew it was the place for us pretty much immediately. We loved the beautiful mix of old and new and how intimate it felt. We also loved how it was in the city that we call home and not an hour away. Welcoming our out of town family and friends and showing them where we live was really important to us.
For both of us, the morning flew by so fast until right before we were going to see each other for the first time! My bridesmaids and I got ready at an Airbnb nearby, and it was so much fun being able to spend that special time with my closest friends. Aaron and his groomsmen and women spent their morning at our apartment having brunch and bloody Mary’s! He said he was really nervous! We were both just so anxious to finally see each other!
People aren’t lying when they tell you that your wedding day will fly by! We both feel like so much of the day was such a blur to us because we were so busy, but for me, those few moments that we got to spend alone together between our ceremony and reception are some of my favorite moments of the whole day. Julianne, our event manager, helped make those moments so great by bringing us food and drinks! And we just got to enjoy being together as husband and wife for the first time and finally take a deep breath after over a year of wedding planning. Aaron says that being able to go around to each of our tables to talk to everyone during dinner was one of the most special parts of the day for him. We got married in the midst of the pandemic and hadn’t seen so many of our friends and family because of it, so being able to spend time with the people we loved most in the world was amazing.
We had the Haulin’ Nostalgia VW photobooth van at our reception and it was so fun! They pulled up right out back, and our guests absolutely loved having the picture to take home. We also kept a scrapbook filled with the photos of all our guests, and we love to look through it as a reminder of how much fun we all had!
Also, I don’t think there was a moment that there wasn’t anyone on the dance floor!
There are so many words we could use to describe our wedding, but a few that come to mind are magical, full of love, and the best day of our lives.
Our biggest advice for wedding planning is to start early and don’t hesitate to put your trust in people who know what they’re doing! We were so blessed when we found the Cliff House because we definitely couldn’t have made it all happen without the team there! And most importantly, enjoy the small moments you get to spend with the most important people in your lives. The day itself will fly by, but those memories will last forever.
Thank you, Caroline and Aaron, for sharing these sweet memories with us! We are so thankful for our little venue in the heart of Dallas to have been the backdrop for your wedding day, and we wish you nothing but the best in years to come. Cheers!
