Real Wedding | Amanda + Joey | January 1, 2021

January 1, 2021 was a day filled with new beginnings, especially for Amanda and Joey as they became Mr. and Mrs. in an intimate wedding at the Cliff House. There was no shortage of love or dance moves on their wedding day, and each moment spent celebrating was filled with pure joy.

We couldn’t wait to talk with Amanda and Joey about their love story, their favorite parts of the day, and the memories they’ll never forget. Enjoy!

From Amanda and Joey:

We met on Bumble! Amanda loved the picture of Joey’s dog and messaged him asking what her name was. From there we quickly found out we had A LOT in common – we both moved to DFW from Chicago in 2015 & went to all the same restaurants/bars during our time in the Windy City. We also both had trips planned to Croatia over Labor Day and our itineraries missed each other by just a few days! We finally met up for drinks in Deep Ellum and even though Joey was a little late, Amanda cut him a break since he made the drive up all the way from Fort Worth. 😊  We had a great conversation and ended the night with Emporium Pies – a sweet ending to a great night.

When we envisioned our wedding, we wanted something modern & classic with light and airy touches. Lots of greenery and neutral florals were top priorities from a décor perspective. Great food and drinks were also a priority – we are both big foodies!

I loved that the Cliff House looks a bit like a church but is also a functional reception space. The décor is absolutely stunning as well – the wood tones and chandelier fit in perfectly with our vision for a modern classic vibe.

We had so much fun getting ready! The day started early for the girls with hair, makeup & breakfast and the guys went off to brunch. For the girls, we had a lot of fun chatting during hair and makeup, and ended the getting ready process with a fun first look of me in my wedding dress after my mom and sister helped to put it on.

We both loved our private last dance! It was really nice to have a moment at the end of the night before we left the venue to just soak in every last moment of the day. The first dance (and the father/daughter, mother/son dances – actually ALL the dancing) was a ton of fun.

The best man & maid of honor toasts were a highlight, and although we had to reduce our numbers due to the pandemic, it really felt like one big family with everyone really getting to know each other.

It sounds cheesy, but it was truly the best day of our lives. Being surrounded by the people you care about and love the most and then getting to marry your best friend and celebrate with all your favorite people after – it just doesn’t get any better.

To future couples, be flexible and just know that at the end of the day your love conquers all!

We couldn’t agree more. Thank you, Amanda and Joey, for sharing your favorite wedding day memories with us! We loved hosting y’all at our little white chapel and getting to be a part of this beautiful day. We wish you nothing but the best in years to come. Cheers!
