Real Weddings | Meagan + Juan | November 24, 2019

Meagan and Juan’s wedding day was one filled with celebration, beauty, and all kinds of love. Their wedding simply centered around the joy of being together, because as Meagan said it, “The best part of it all is, at the end of the day, you are married to your love!”

Today, we get to share with you their story and the sweet details of their fall wedding day.

From Meagan:

Juan and I actually met on a blind date set up by two of our friends. When my friends asked me if I would be interested in meeting him, I was in the middle of a really difficult season of life. I thanked them for the offer but ultimately decided it wasn't a good time to start a new relationship. Fast-forward a month later, and a Facebook message from Juan was in my inbox! He begins the message with "I just wanted to introduce myself and say I'd love to go out to coffee and meet you. No pressure if this isn't a good time." After several friends and family members told me "It's just coffee, you should go!,” I agreed to meetup. On our first date, we ended up hitting it off, talking for several hours and the rest is history. I always laughed when people told me I may meet “the one” when I least expected it, but in our case, that turned out to be true! God brought us together at the perfect time. A little over a year later, in Juan’s home country of Spain, he proposed to me in a beautiful town in a canyon.

We were looking for a classy, but modern feel for our ceremony and reception. We love a clean, minimalist style accented with tasteful greenery. Overall, we wanted our guests to feel our joy while celebrating with us!

We wanted a venue that had its own unique charm and would comfortably fit our 130 guests, while still feeling inviting and intimate. When we walked up to the Cliff House, we immediately fell in love with the classic, but modern take on a white chapel. As we walked inside, I could picture our dream greenery up against the natural wood elements of the venue. It also felt like the perfect size for our wedding and was in the middle of one of our favorite neighborhoods in Dallas.

We chose to get ready at separate locations and then meet up at the venue for our first look. From the moment I woke up, the whole day felt so surreal. My friend graciously allowed me and my bridesmaids to get ready at his salon in the Design District, Hair Revival Studio. It was a peaceful, beautiful location to relish the moment with my favorite girls. It was also very special to have my mom helping me get ready. Juan’s mom and sister joined us as well, and sharing that moment with them meant a lot to me. Juan’s sister actually owns a salon in Spain and generously offered to do my hair and several of my bridesmaids’ hair that day. Juan and his groomsmen got ready at a hotel in Downtown Dallas. It was a special time for him to have his closest friends with him, supporting him in this huge moment. We both prayed for the day before heading to the venue for our first look.

The day was filled with so many memorable moments. The anticipation and excitement of our “first look” is probably my favorite moment from the day. It was so important for us to have that time together before the ceremony and definitely put both of us at ease. I will also never forget the moment of the doors opening and seeing Juan waiting at the altar as I walked down the aisle with my dad. I immediately cried tears of joy as I saw him standing there proudly. Saying our vows to each other and promising to love, support, and stay by each other through the good times and bad was so incredibly meaningful to us. Another moment I will never forget is when my sister and I embraced and cried after her matron-of-honor speech. We have been through so much together over the last year, and at that moment, we didn’t even need words to explain what we were feeling.

I would describe the day as an exciting whirlwind! It had some unexpected difficult moments, but was still so joyful and surreal. It honestly felt like a dream for both of us. Adriana, our Cliff House planner, was amazing to work with and ensured everything went as smoothly as possible.

If you’re anything like me, the planning and execution of a wedding can be pretty stressful at times! However, the best advice someone gave me is to try to be completely present the day of the wedding. At that point, you have done all of the planning you can do, and you have to just accept that even if things don’t go exactly as you planned, it can still be an absolutely beautiful day. Juan and I cherished even the little moments we had that day. The best part of it all is, at the end of the day, you are married to your love!

Thank you, Meagan and Juan, for sharing these treasured wedding day memories with us! We loved getting to be the backdrop of this beautiful day, and we wish you nothing but the best in years to come. Cheers!
